Eli, 1996-2003
Beer Dog and Celebrator Beer News mascot Eli died Thursday, MarchÊ13, 2003, after a brief medical condition.
[an error occurred while processing this directive] The rottweiler was the constant companion of Celebrator Beer News Publisher/Editor Tom Dalldorf. Eli acted as official greeter at the CBN office and traveled daily with Tom around the Bay Area as they conducted the business of publishing and distributing the Celebrator.
Eli was also a welcome fixture beside Tom at certain local watering holes, where regulars would swoop down to pet his big head or scratch him behind an ear. Each person was always greeted with a big doggy smile and a series of quick wags from Eli's stubby tail.
Celebrator readers will remember Eli from the photos of him posing with Tom in most of Tom's editorial columns. Friends of Eli will remember the big dog for his sweet disposition, his happy face, the way he would lean against whoever was petting himÊ-- and his obvious devotion to Tom and his wife, Arlene. -- Lisa Morrison
