CBN's 28th Anniversary Bash
Celebrator Turns 28 in Berkeley

The Celebrator Beer News celebrated its 28th anniversary on Saturday, January 30, 2016, with a brewers’ showcase and party at Trumer Brauerei in Berkeley, California. Over 35 breweries poured favorite brews and brought special beers to share with the large and enthusiastic crowd. Celebrator readers and beer fans alike mingled with Celebrator writers and beer industry luminaries, including pioneer figures in the craft beer movement.

Over 35 breweries poured favorite brews and brought special beers to share with the large and enthusiastic crowd.
Breweries attending the event were all longtime Celebrator supporters and advertisers, including Anchor, Anderson Valley, Artisanal Imports, Auburn Alehouse, Beachwood, Bear Republic, BridgePort, Buffalo Bill’s, Drake’s, Eel River, Firestone Walker, Great Basin, Half Moon Bay, Hermitage, High Water, Knee Deep, Lagunitas, Linden Street, Lucky Devil, Mad River, Magnolia, Marin, Moylan’s, Pacific Coast, Russian River, Shiner, Shmaltz, Sierra Nevada, Six Rivers, Stone, Sudwerk, ThirstyBear, Tied House, Triple Rock, 21st Amendment and host brewery Trumer Brauerei.

Tickets were $60 per person and included food and beer. No tickets were available at the door, as this year’s event sold out online via Eventbrite. The party was the closing function for San Francisco Beer Week 2016, which had an unfortunate date shift necessitated by Super Bowl 50 and its weeklong impact on the Bay Area during SFBW’s usual dates in early February.

Lots of guests arrived and left via the free shuttle bus between the North Berkeley BART Station and Trumer Brauerei. This was a huge contribution, making the event very public transportation–friendly. Many thanks to the Trumer folks for providing this essential service.

Venga Paella brought four huge paella pans, to the delight of the attendees. Venga Paella is a Spanish paella bar with a taverna menu located minutes from downtown and Jack London Square in the Oakland Warehouse district. Get more information at vengapaella.com.

Attendees were once again treated to doughnuts supplied by Doughnut Dolly. Their cream-filled centers were made from the wort from Trumer Brauerei. Delicious! Doughnut Dolly has two locations: Oakland and Berkeley.

The event was a fundraiser for the California Craft Brewers Association, a 501(c)(6) organization, and raised over $16,000 to help fund the association’s legislative activities. Many thanks to all those who contributed to making this event so successful, especially the Trumer staff for all their help and hard work.

San Francisco Beer Week returns to its regular time of February 10–19, 2017. We hope to see you for the 29th!
