South County Distillers To Represent Rhode Island in Historic United States of Bourbon Blend

South County Distillers To Represent Rhode Island in Historic United States of Bourbon Blend

South County Distillers has been selected to take part in a landmark whiskey project honoring America’s 250th anniversary. The Rhode Island craft distillery contributes its bourbon to Lost Lantern’s United States of Bourbon, a unique 50-state blend showcasing distilling traditions from across the country. It also appears in a second limited release celebrating the original 13 colonies – further highlighting its role in this national tribute to American whiskey.

A press release from South County Distillers explained that the Lost Lantern’s United States of Bourbon is the first-ever blend of straight bourbon from all 50 states and one of the most ambitious whiskey collaborations ever undertaken in the United States.

Created by Lost Lantern Whiskey, the award-winning independent bottler of American whiskey, the release brings together bourbon from a single distillery in all 50 states, showcasing the extraordinary growth of American whiskey production and highlighting the unique character each region contributes to the nation’s distilling tradition.

South County Distillers was selected to represent Rhode Island in the historic project, joining 49 other distilleries from across the country. The resulting 100-proof blend offers aromas of warm vanilla and balanced wood spice, with hints of nutmeg and clove. The palate features notes of dark chocolate, raspberry and orange zest, leading to a balanced, lingering finish.

For the project, Lost Lantern selected one distillery from each state to contribute bourbon that reflects its local whiskey-making traditions. South County Distillers contributed bourbon distilled and aged in Westerly using the same grain-to-glass approach that has helped establish the distillery’s reputation for producing distinctive small-batch spirits.

“We are thrilled to be chosen to represent Rhode Island for this historic celebration of American craftsmanship,” said Jen Brinton, co-owner of South County Distillers. “Rhode Island has developed a vibrant craft beverage community over the last decade, and it’s an honor to help showcase what our state can produce on a national stage. It is deeply meaningful to our team to represent Rhode Island in this project.”

Along with the United States of Bourbon blend, South County Distillers will also be representing Rhode Island in Lost Lantern’s highly limited 1776 Edition – a blend of straight bourbon from America’s original 13 colonies. The blend is warm, complex, and spicy on the nose, with orange zest, dark chocolate, and walnut notes. The palate bursts with fruit and spice, with hints of fresh-baked bread and notes of leather leading into a very long, spicy finish.

Both bourbons are available to order online and in retail stores across the country, including select stores in New England. The 1776 Edition is an extremely limited release, with only a small number of bottles produced, making it one of Lost Lantern’s most exclusive commemorative offerings.
