Old Forester President’s Choice Returns Ahead of National Bourbon Day 2026

Old Forester is once again bringing back its President’s Choice bourbon and rye – continuing the annual tradition of offering rare, hand-picked barrels. This year’s expressions are 7 to 9 years old and bottled at higher proof to deliver a bold, intense profile. This selection highlights some of the distillery’s finest and most seasoned barrels, chosen for depth, character and balance.

According to a press release from Old Forester, both expressions have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $225.

This year’s expressions, President’s Choice Bourbon and President’s Choice Rye, will be available nationally in limited quantities starting June 13 ahead of National Bourbon Day.

Inspired by private single barrels offered in 1964 by former Old Forester president George Garvin Brown II, President’s Choice showcases Old Forester’s most exceptional barrels selected for their maturity, complexity and distinct character.

“It’s always an exciting time for us to bring the next iteration of President’s Choice to whiskey enthusiasts who truly cherish exceptional taste,” Master Taster Melissa Rift said. “Our process of tasting each barrel is rooted in the history of this label, and this year’s release is no exception.”

For the second consecutive year, President’s Choice will be available in both bourbon and rye expressions. Each barrel is aged between 7-to-9 years and bottled at proof points ranging from 110 to 125 proof.

This year’s national debut will launch at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 13. Old Forester Distillery will be releasing a limited number of bottles for in-person purchase at the distillery and in the online store at shop.oldforester.com for shipping to states where it is legal (D.C., KY, NE, NH, ND only).
